Olivami and the Garden of Baia di Gallipoli.
How the project came about.
Our commitment and collaboration with Olivami stems from a goal we deeply believe in: the reforestation of the olive trees of Salento destroyed by Xylella.
Over the past 5 years, the Xylella outbreak in Salento has caused irreparable damage:
21 million Salento olive trees have been lost
and Salento was forced to eradicate centuries-old olive trees that represented the most vibrant tradition of the area.
More than 5,000 olive growers lost everything:
fields, work, traditions and their future.
Production of our beloved Salento Extra Virgin Olive Oil has decreased by 80%.
Domestic production has declined by 50%, and Italy has become an olive-oil-importing country.
The pollution level has increased by 8%.
The olive tree is one of the plants with the highest capacity to remove CO2 from the atmosphere: each olive tree removes about 730 kg of CO2 from the atmosphere per year.
Once we were an olive grove
Once upon a time, the Baia di Gallipoli was also a wonderful olive grove that, over these years, we have seen suffer and then die, without being able to do anything to save even a single tree.
Why we have chosen Olivami.
Olivami is a nonprofit organization made up of a group of young people who love our land and support the rebirth of Salento.
Like them, we believe in participation, in the importance of actions and in the strength of our olive growers, who want to go back to the fields to start from scratch. You can all help, because all it takes is to adopt or give an olive tree to help Salento.

A sign of rebirth after Xylella. And thanks to Olivami, everyone can do it.
It is a new form of sustainable olive growing, allowing everyone to take part in this process by adopting one or more Salento olive trees from a distance, supporting the reforestation of the area and obtaining an annual supply of extra virgin olive oil with certified origin and quality.

Our commitment
Our project is green, mainly because it was created to restore the greenery of Salento, which we have great nostalgia for.
Green stands for the green of the leaves, which in the immense olive groves give life to colorful expanses all to admire.
Green stands for the green of the fruits, delicious in traditional recipes but even better when pressed. An ancient process that gives life to Salento's Extra Virgin Olive Oil. Irresistible on our bread.
But “Green” is also the blue of our sea, which is wonderful, but is even more beautiful when combined with the intense green of the majestic olive trees.
Green because it conveys a feeling of the future.

Together with Olivami, we planted 200 olive trees:
give a job to 4 farmers
reduce CO2 emissions by 120,000 Kg
contribute to the increase in production of Salento Olive Oil
help give back the Salento area and its ancient beauty to future generations.
